Travel Nursing Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Acute Care Float
• Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m., including a 30-minute meal break
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Healthcare Setting: On-site acute-care hospital
• Floating: Assignment may include multiple medical-surgical and specialty units based on staffing needs
• Call: Not required
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Tennessee RN license or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in a comparable-acuity hospital setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Prior Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
• Strong medical-surgical nursing and acute-care nursing skills
• Ability to float confidently between hospital units and adapt to changing patient-care needs
• Two professional references required; references may be pending at submission
• Flu vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across a variety of acute-care and medical-surgical units
• Complete patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
• Float to units such as medical comfort care, surgery and gastrointestinal care, trauma, observation, oncology, nephrology, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, pulmonary, cardiac surgery, and cardiac care as assigned
• Prioritize care for varying patient ratios, typically up to 1:6, according to department needs
• Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Support safe patient transitions, discharge planning, patient education, and continuity of care
• Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and teamwork while working across multiple specialty areas
