ICU RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
• Location: Salem, Massachusetts
• Healthcare Setting: 20-bed adult Medical/Surgical ICU within a Level III Trauma Center
• Assignment Type: 13-week Registered Nurse contract
• Start Date: November 1, 2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity patients
• Charting System: Epic
• Floating: Required to Medical/Surgical units as needed, with ratios generally ranging from 1:4 to 1:5

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent, continuous adult ICU or MICU experience, preferably in one location
• Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification
• Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret telemetry strips and advanced dysrhythmias
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and time-management skills in a high-acuity critical care environment
• Ability to float to Medical/Surgical units and safely care for a broader adult patient population

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a Medical/Surgical ICU
• Monitor patients with complex diagnoses, including respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac arrest, renal failure, cardiogenic shock, DKA, GI bleeding, overdose, and severe psychiatric conditions
• Interpret telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythm and patient condition
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, administer medications and treatments, and evaluate patient responses
• Manage 1:1 or 1:2 assignments for high-acuity patients while maintaining safe, evidence-based care
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and the interdisciplinary care team, which provides coverage around the clock
• Document patient care accurately in Epic
• Float to Medical/Surgical units when needed and care for patients within the nurse's competency
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and participate in emergency interventions
