Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent full-time equivalent Registered Nurse experience within the past 3 years
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state where care is provided
• Basic Life Support certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation certification or completion of an approved neonatal resuscitation program
• Labor & Delivery nursing experience required; high-risk obstetric experience is strongly preferred
• Five or more years of recent Labor & Delivery experience is preferred
• Ability to provide compassionate, safe, and effective care in a fast-paced maternal-child health environment

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
• Assess maternal and fetal status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
• Support high-risk obstetric patients and collaborate with providers during urgent or emergent situations
• Assist with labor management, delivery procedures, and newborn transition as appropriate to the unit
• Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow established policies, safety standards, and infection-prevention practices
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, neonatal specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote excellent outcomes
