Travel Nursing Job Details

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent PACU, post-anesthesia, critical care, or comparable acute care nursing experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Experience caring for patients during post-anesthesia recovery and identifying changes in patient condition
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Comfort with CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilator equipment
• Willingness to float to designated pre- and post-operative units as needed
• Ability to participate in rotating winter and summer holiday coverage

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
• Monitor airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain status throughout patient recovery
• Care for patients following orthopedic, ENT, ophthalmology, gynecology, urology, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and podiatry procedures
• Recognize and promptly respond to post-anesthesia complications and changes in patient condition
• Manage patients requiring advanced respiratory support, including CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and communicate significant findings to the appropriate care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining accurate documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical, nursing, respiratory therapy, and perioperative support teams
• Participate in call coverage, holiday rotation, and approved floating assignments
