PCU Travel Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU), progressive care, stepdown, or telemetry Registered Nurse experience
• Active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license in hand at submission
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and care of complex medical patients
• Experience managing cardiac drips without titration, heparin protocols, central and peripheral lines, and post-cardiac procedure patients
• Ability to float to comparable units within scope of practice as needed
• Two professional references covering at least 1 year of recent nursing experience within the last 3 years

Progressive Care Unit RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), sepsis, chest pain, syncope, cardiac arrhythmias, and other complex cardiac and medical diagnoses
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and recognize changes in patient condition while escalating concerns promptly
• Care for patients following cardiac catheterization, angiography, myocardial infarction, cardiac surgery, and other cardiovascular procedures
• Manage temporary pacemakers, cardiac drips without titration, groin sites, and sheath removal according to PCU protocols
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and clinical documentation
• Provide respiratory support, including oxygen administration, high-flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management as appropriate
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, rapid response teams, rehabilitation services, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and participate in rapid response or code team activities when indicated
• Float to comparable units while maintaining quality, patient safety, and scope-of-practice standards
